I’m Portia Emare, a proud performer from the vibrant city of Manchester, and I invite you into the world of Ori Artists – a haven born from the unique journey of every performer in the realm of show business.
My own odyssey in the theatre and performance industry started at the tender age of 7, a journey that led me to win a scholarship at 11, taking me across the country to a renowned theatre school in London. This voyage, marked by highs, lows, and everything in between, has been a testament to the power of authenticity and the refusal to sacrifice one’s voice.
As a quarter Irish, quarter Nigerian, Northern Lady, my journey didn’t always align with the expectations of the industry. My voice didn’t match my looks, and my attitude defied the mould of a typical chorus girl. However, I stood true to my identity, embracing my uniqueness throughout my career, and I continue to do so.
In this journey, I had the unwavering support of a fiercely loyal mother who taught me invaluable lessons about never questioning my personal talents and skills in a world that might not always understand them. Her lessons inspired me to create Ori Artists – a sanctuary where artists can feel safe, seen, and supported on this erratic rollercoaster of a career.
The world has evolved, and I’m driven to be a part of positive change. My passion lies in witnessing individuals rise to their incredible talents and being duly rewarded. It’s about building people up, connecting them with fellow creatives, pushing them to be better, and always honouring their unique style.
Why do I do this? Because I believe in taking care of the people who make this planet a more beautiful, interesting, and colourful place. Ori Artists is a community where your journey, your voice, and your individuality matter.
